1/7/26 D-Wave acquires Quantum Circuits Inc. for $550m
Quantum computing firm D-Wave will acquire Quantum Circuits Inc. (QCI) for $550 million. The purchase price consists of $300m in D-Wave common stock and $250m in cash, the company said in a statement. The deal is expected to close in late January 2026, subject to customary closing and regulatory agreements.
Quantum Circuits is a Yale spin-out that was founded in 2015 by two scientists from the university. Based in New Haven, Connecticut, the company has been developing quantum computing systems based on superconducting technology with a proprietary approach to error correction.
Under the terms of the agreement, QCI will establish a research and development center in New Haven to support D-Wave’s future R&D efforts.Announcing the acquisition, D-Wave said the deal would allow it to “dramatically accelerate the projected time to a scaled, error-corrected gate-model quantum computer,” with the first deliverable under this expedited roadmap set to be an initial dual-rail system, slated to be generally available in 2026.

1/9/26 Microsoft ‘To Acqui-Hire Robin AI Tech Team’
It is understood that Microsoft is to acqui-hire the tech team of Robin AI. A source close to the deal told Artificial Lawyer that the group, which could number several dozen, will ‘help improve Word for lawyers’.
The move to one of the largest tech companies in the world is a happy ending after what has been a turbulent time for Robin AI, which in December saw the move of its managed services group to NewMod law firm Scissero, following a funding crisis.

1/8/26 Snowflake to Acquire Observe to Enable Faster Troubleshooting of AI Agents
Snowflake plans to acquire Observe to deliver artificial intelligence-powered observability that is built on open standards and designed for the requirements of AI-driven enterprises.
The companies signed a definitive agreement for the acquisition, though the closing of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, Snowflake said in a Thursday (Jan. 8) press release.

1/7/26 Hg to acquire OneStream in $6.4bn deal
OneStream, a US-based enterprise finance management platform, has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by the London-based venture capital firm Hg in a transaction valued at approximately $6.4 billion.
The deal will see OneStream shareholders receive $24 per share in cash, representing a 31% premium to the company's closing share price on 5 January 2026. An unnamed entity controlled by Hg is acquiring all outstanding shares of OneStream, including those currently held by New York-based private equity firm KKR.

Marvell Technology, Inc.(NASDAQ: MRVL), a leader in data infrastructure semiconductor solutions, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire XConn Technologies ("XConn"), a provider of advanced PCIe and CXL switching silicon. The acquisition expands Marvell’s switching portfolio by adding XConn’s PCIe and CXL products and augments Marvell’s Ultra Accelerator Link ("UALink") scale-up switch team, adding highly experienced engineering talent with deep domain expertise in high-performance switching.

1/6/26 Mobileye to acquire AI humanoid robotics startup Mentee Robotics in $900M deal
Automotive chip maker Mobileye Global Inc. announced today that it has agreed to acquire artificial intelligence humanoid robotics company Mentee Robotics Ltd. in a $900 million deal.
The deal consists of $612 million in cash and up to 26.2 million shares in Mobileye Class A common stock, subject to adjustment based on the vesting of any Mentee options before closing.

Accenture has agreed to acquire AI startup Faculty, a potentially significant move in a consultancy sector currently scrambling to add greater artificial intelligence expertise.

Afraid Media, an indie horror banner, launched on Tuesday with its acquisition of genre news outlet Dread Central.
Dread Central is a digital media outlet that has covered horror film, televison and fandom since 2006. The acquisition by Be Afraid comes as Dread Central approaches its 20th anniversary.

1/5/26 Microsoft acquires data analytics startup Osmos to fuel push into ‘autonomous data engineering’
Microsoft announced Monday that it acquired Osmos, a Seattle startup that helps companies automate data engineering work. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Osmos’ team will join the engineering organization behind Microsoft Fabric, the tech giant’s data and analytics platform, to “accelerate autonomous data engineering,” according to a Microsoft blog post.

1/4/26 Palo Alto Networks reportedly explores $400M acquisition of Koi Security

He reportedly emphasized that the rapid changes artificial intelligence is bringing to the cybersecurity sector have created a need to consolidate endpoint solutions, including extended detection and response and endpoint detection and response offerings.
Koi was founded in 2024 by alumni of the Israeli Defense Force’s elite Unit 8200, including CEO Amit Assaraf, Chief Technology Officer Idan Dardikman and Chief Product Officer Itay Kruk.
